Who or what is a Vadderik?
The name
Old Flemish for sluggard or lazybones.
Vadderik was originally a playful local nickname for Neptune, who sits rather lazily on top of the historic water pump on Mechelen’s Veemarkt. The name later became legendary in Mechelen’s nightlife as a dance café throughout the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. In 2027, Vadderik returns as a versatile event venue full of character: a place where Mechelen comes together once again.
The space
Vadderik is housed in a former industrial building at Veemarkt 5, Mechelen, with exposed brick, natural light, and room to think differently. Whether you're running a strategy day for 10 or a full company celebration for 100, the space adapts to you.
